Canada’s Seafaring History Comes to Life

The sea shaped Nova Scotia, and this immersive space captures every facet of its fascinating story. Exhibits of maritime industry and naval heritage create an atmosphere that’s intimate and endlessly interesting. Discover original sets from the beloved children’s television show Theodore Tugboat, artefacts from the Titanic, and models of the world’s most iconic ships.

Canada’s oldest and largest maritime museum chronicles small craft boatbuilding, World War Convoys, the Days of Sail to the Age of Steam, and the Halifax Explosion in immersive detail. At the heart of all the action between the Halifax boardwalk and Lower Water Street, the museum is easily walkable from points around downtown Halifax and just a short walk from the Dartmouth ferry.

The boats of the Small Craft Gallery provide a unique canvas for your next event. Think colorful lights splashed across their sails, or a more dramatic touch to elevate your guests’ experience. Want the harbor as your backdrop? Head upstairs to the Harbourview Observation Deck for unmatched views of the water and our museum ship C.S.S. Acadia
